Liquidation of the lessor: the lease agreement remains in effect
On September 24, 2026, the Plenum of the Supreme Court of Belarus adopted a new resolution regarding the application of legislation on lease agreements. One of the key innovations is a new approach to applying Article 582 of the Civil Code: the rule ensuring the continuation of a lease agreement upon the transfer of rights to the leased property now extends to cases where the lessor—a legal entity—is liquidated. Liquidation in itself does not terminate the lease; the agreement remains in force when rights to the property pass to another party.
